Two representatives from ACI Foundation, co-founder Jenn Neilson and board member Steve Yallouz will be travelling to Vancouver on October 9th to participate in CLT's inaugural public forum: a day of learning focused on relational land practice and collective governance models.
Like ACI Foundation, but based in Vancouver, the CLT proposes a structure for arts and culture communities to collectively steward space for the long term–by removing properties from the speculative real estate market and extractive ownership models.
Jenn and Steve are looking forward to a day of moderated panels, presentations, and group discussions, featuring presenters from organizations including the City of Toronto, 221A, C-Space, Red Space Arts Society, Downtown Eastside Land Trust, BAAA!, SITE Toronto, Artist Spaces Trust, UBC, SFU and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Participants will explore the question: “How can cultural space be stewarded in ways that are accountable to equity-deserving artists, arts organizations, and communities?”, examine relational models of space use, and translate collective inquiry into governance principles for land stewardship. It is a space for building collective understanding as the foundation for collective responsibility.
